該劇講述了手無縛雞之力的路盲書生寧彩臣進京趕考，誰知一路順暢抵達京城後，卻因住不起客棧安身在一座破廟內。誰知此廟並非無主，早有狐仙聶小賤佔廟為王。在遭到聶小賤的一連串魔法攻擊物理攻擊化學攻擊後竟淪為了寵物——“小白四號”。之後聶小賤的色盲師兄黑衫老妖，以降妖除魔為己任的江湖術士燕赤俠，莫名花痴燕赤俠的富家小姐潘拉拉，人稱有十億資產的京城首富潘十億遺孀潘夫人與雷管家紛紛登場，這些非正常人的行事作風給寧彩臣造成了無數諦笑皆非的麻煩，也由此展開了一段精彩的故事。
