Czech and Slovak cinema has a diverse and rich history encompassing fairy tales, surrealism, sensuality and political upheavals. It saw a creative flowering in the period of the Czechoslovak New Wave led by Milos Forman, Vera Chytilova, Ivan Passer and Jiri Menzel.
