Lo Manthang is one of the oldest surviving fortress cities in the world. It is located 4000 metres above sea level in the Nepalese district of Mustang. The royal city was built in the 15th century, and is inhabited despite its seclusion by the members of the Lopa people. The philosopher Philippe Simay met Karma, who spent his whole life in Lo Manthang.
