警視庁捜査一課に新設された“NS係”の刑事に抜擢された鳴滝杏だが、想像以上の男社会と、不規則で厳しい仕事、さらに周囲の友人からの結婚や出産の報告に、公私ともに悩みを深める。一方、コンビを組むベテラン刑事・阿藤宗介も、内部不祥事への関係を疑われた過去から、やさぐれた日々を送っていた。しかし、とある事件をきっかけに、2人は刑事としての能力を発揮し始め、捜査一課の誇りであるスカーレット色のバッヂに恥じない輝きを取り戻していく。
