Arnoud and Polle start their journey in Colombia. From Bogotá it goes along mountain roads towards the border with Ecuador. The first target is the Colombian city of Cali, where they hope to find the first mobile school at the Sisters of Providence. The FARC is still active in southern Colombia. Arnoud and Polle drive straight through the conflict zone into Ecuador. There they stop in the village of Otavalo, purveyor to all 'Indians' who sell their products on the Antwerp Meir.
Arnoud is looking forward to seeing a relatively new mobile school in action in Ibarra, Ecuador. Moreover, he would like to see Suzanna again, a street girl he met 15 years ago when she was selling sweets every day on the streets of the capital Quito. According to Arnoud she should be about 25 years old now and with only a photo from then in hand, he and Polle try to find a trace of her.
Arnoud and Polle enter Peru. The diary sends them past the area where Arnoud nearly drowned 15 years ago. On their motorcycles, they are really challenged for the first time as they ride one of the most dangerous roads in the world, the Cañón del Pato.
Arnoud and Polle experience one of the most exciting rest days of their lives in the Peruvian Huaraz, a city in the Andes mountains. Driving the motorcycle up to an altitude of 4,900 meters is a unique experience. Well rested, they visit the capital Lima, center of the creative seller's life.
Arnoud and Paul's journey through the Peruvian mountains continues. They arrive in the city of Ayacucho. There they go in search of Yonar and Banano, two brothers that Arnoud met years ago when they were trying to survive on the street.
After visiting the Inca capital Cuzco and Machu Picchu, Arnoud and Polle drive into Bolivia along Lake Titicaca. Along the way, they are baptized by an Aymara priest and Arnoud is treated to a free dance lesson.
Arnoud and Polle arrive in Bolivian La Paz, the city where they met in 2000. Aided by a group of street children, they look for Cano, an old acquaintance from the diary. They then travel on the dangerous Camino de la Muerte to the salt flats of Uyuni.
