Os surfistas dos anos 70 contam como era o mercado do surfe na época e a dificuldade de encontrar equipamentos, principalmente a parafina. Como as pranchas não tinham cordinha, a graça era dar "a tirada" para o alto na hora que a onda fechava. As cordas começaram a aparecer no bico da prancha e, aos poucos, foram sendo aprimoradas para não machucar os surfistas.
