Прототипом главного героя послужил известный советский диверсант Касым Кайсенов, который воевал на Украине во время Великой Отечественной войны. На этот раз перед Касымом стоит задание взорвать немецкий склад топлива. Но диверсионная группа, с которой Касым оказывается на вражеской территории, уничтожена, и теперь помочь Касыму могут только местные жители.
