1837 Exhausting Caucasian war. A young officer, Grigory Pechorin, was sent into exile in the Caucasus for participation in a duel. Pechorin will become an unwitting participant in the rapidly unfolding events - the clash with smugglers, the abduction of the young Circassian princess, another duel. And when the whole world turns against Pechorin, he will continue on his way alone, - a hero, a product of the new age that has come.
