故事梗概:那座湖很大,漂泊着十万条渔船，差不多每条船上都有不曾上学或者早该上学而无学可上的孩子。正座湖上只有一所小学叫＂船头小学＂．亚迪是个为了办学校不肯回城的知青，当他同甘共苦的妻子秋菱摇响了上课的铃声，孩子纷纷从水里爬上船。 卢洗河曾经当过兵，与亚迪很投缘，当初就是在他的鼓励下，亚迪和秋菱才建立起了小学。亚迪得母亲为亚迪办好了回城的手续并且为秋菱在上海找了工作，可是就在那天的傍晚，大浪打翻了船，亚迪被湖水卷走，同时朵朵，麻丫，将军都成了孤儿。 经过几年的努力，朵朵，麻丫，将军要上中学了，就在离船的那天，灾难降临，船漏水了，因为船太旧了， 卢洗河和秋菱只能看着“小学”沉入海底，小学又失去了课堂。 面对着一切的灾难，他们会怎么做呢？他们深信：他们面对的是希望，他们坚信“太阳不落山”。
