本劇改編自金庸的武俠小說《雪山飛狐》，李自成亡國後，他旗下的四大侍衛——胡、苗、範、田家開始了奪寶之爭，後來演化成四家的世代為仇。呼家後人胡一刀（黃日華飾）想要找其餘三家和化解先前的誤會，但卻因田家後人田歸農（張兆輝飾）暗中陷害誤喪於苗家後人苗人鳳（尹揚明飾）之手，其妻子郎劍秋（邵美琪飾）也沒能倖免於難，劍秋把獨生子胡斐（陳錦鴻飾）託給了僕人平四（廖啟智飾）照料。長大後的胡斐一心想要為父母報仇，並誤會了苗人鳳是罪魁禍首，當平四帶著胡斐一路追尋苗人鳳的踪跡時，他遇上了女扮男裝的么一一（劉曉彤飾），邂逅了俠女聶桑青（滕麗名飾），但她卻對紅花會舵主陳家洛（魏俊傑飾）心有所屬。隨後胡斐又與苗人鳳之女苗若蘭（佘詩曼 飾）相識相知，可無奈江湖險惡，幾個年輕人背負著上一輩的恩怨自己也深陷其中。 不同於其它改編自《雪山飛狐》的作品，本劇沒有太多涉及到《飛狐外傳》的內容，甚至沒有出現程靈素、袁紫衣等經典書中人物。
