上海姑娘丽鹃嫁给了一个大学毕业后留在上海工作的东北小伙子亚平。亚平在丈母娘家的帮助下，在上海买了房子成了家。亚平在父母来上海前是个上海标准的普通的丈夫，对老婆嘘寒问暖，端茶倒水，小夫妻亲密无间，恩爱无比。但婆婆到来后，温馨的小家生活开始发生质变。母亲认为儿子是自己的，理应该听自己，而媳妇是外来的；妻子认为丈夫是自己最亲密的人，希望得到关爱。双方的矛盾从一开始就有增无减……
