Josefin Kuschela

Josefin Kuschela is a director and camera woman for nature- and outdoor films. After she began making short films when she was around 15 years old, she later studied psychology in Potsdam, Germany, specializing in visual perception (Diploma). She lived for a while in Vancouver, Canada and worked in research labs for cognition (brain/ perception/attention). She never stopped filming though, so it happened that in the end the camera became her full-time comrade. 2016 – 2020 she studied directing for culture-, documentary-, and science films at film academy Baden-Württemberg in Germany (Diploma), doing projects in Alaska, Northern Scandinavia and Greenland. She loves snow, ice, and dogs, and therefore is now specializing in filming in arctic climates. Rewards include the Newcomer Filmprize at Naturvision, an Honorable Mention for „Best Nature Documentary“ at Innsbruck Nature Film Fest, and „Best Winter Film“ at International Festival of Winter Cinema.
