Vladimir Lenin

Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (known as Lenin) was a Russian revolutionary and political theorist, considered the founder of Leninism and the architect of the Soviet Union. Leader of the Bolshevik faction, he led the October Revolution of 1917, overthrowing the provisional government and establishing the world's first socialist state. As head of the Soviet government, he instituted radical policies such as the Red Terror and political persecution, laying the foundation for the one-party regime that would last until 1991.
