Benedito Ruy Barbosa

Benedito Ruy Barbosa OMC is a Brazilian soap opera author, writer, playwright, journalist and publicist. He came to dramaturgy with the play Fogo Frio, staged by Teatro de Arena de São Paulo. His debut as a soap opera author took place with Somos Todos Irmãos (1966), on TV Tupi, a free adaptation of A Vingança do Judeu, a mediumistic novel by Russian Vera Krijanóvscaia (1861–1924) attributed to the spirit of John Wilmot, Second Count of Rochester (1647–1680). Next, another soap opera he wrote, O Anjo e o Vagabundo, was aired, a great success.
