Dale Evans was an actress, singer, songwriter, and author who reigned as 'Queen of the West' alongside her 'King of the Cowboys' husband, Roy Rogers, in films of the 1940s and early ’50s and on television in the 1950s and ’60s. The couple also recorded some 400 songs together, among them their theme song, 'Happy Trails'. Dale Evans was born Frances Octavia Smith on October 31, 1912. In 1954, however, when she requested a copy of her birth certificate to apply for a passport, she discovered that it listed her given name as Lucille Wood Smith and her birthdate as October 30.
