Director, actor Richard Compton (born Richard Bethel Compher) scored his biggest hit with the outstanding cult classic Macon County Line (1974) He soon focused on directing made-for-TV movies, and episodes of such series as JAG, The Lone Gunmen, Charmed, Babylon 5, The Commish, Home Improvement, Baywatch, Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), Hill Street Blues, and T.J. Hooker.
