Similar to Istoria mias kalpikis liras (1955), a sometimes blind, and sometimes mute homeless panhandler plays a pivotal role in a realistic modular story consisting of four brief independent narratives. Next, the desperate attempt of the neighbourhood's corner store owner to inform an exhausted father-to-be of his wife's situation will inevitably lead to a bittersweet conclusion. Following, when our poverty-stricken vagabond pays a visit to a seedy tavern--the lair of a local gang of toughs--an unforeseen complication paired with an unexpected act of explosive and unblushing violence will mark the end of an era. Finally, the embarrassing and well-kept secret of a poor young woman in love stands in the way of a better future; however, there is still hope. In the end, how difficult is it to find a truly honest man?
