とあるフリースクールを訪れた記者の中原（福士誠治）は、子どもたちに絵を教えている恵美（石橋杏奈）の友だちについての話を聞く。恵美と病弱で学校を休みがちな由香（北浦愛）は10歳のころから親友同士で、中学になってもいつも一緒だった。2人を取り巻く者たちもそれぞれに不安や迷いを抱える中、由香の体調が悪化していく。

After overcoming her initial reluctance to open up to the writer, Emi talks about her busted leg and her childhood friendship with the chronically ill Yuka. Hiroki steps away from the mature material he's best known for (Vibrator), but focuses the same empathetic gaze on a group of people who don't conform in a perfection-obsessed society and the bonds formed in it.
취재차 프리스쿨을 찾은 나카하라는 조용하지만 따뜻한 에미에게 관심을 갖게 되고, 조금은 천천히 마음을 열게 된 그녀는 여전히 선명한 유년시절 이야기를 시작한다. 다리가 불편한 자신과 언제나 같은 속도로 함께해준 유카와의 추억부터 흔들리는 우정 때문에 고민하던 하나와의 기억, 서로의 세계를 동경하는 소년들과 짝사랑에 빠진 선배의 잊지 못할 사건사고까지. 함께해서 행복했던 날들은, 시간이 흘러도 여전히 선명하게 빛난다.
