雪の喪章

昭和五年、妙子は金沢一の老舗、金箔商狭山家に嫁いだ。先代を継いだ夫の国夫は優しく、姑りつも美しい妙子が殊のほか気に入りで、妙子の生活は正しく幸福そのもののように思えた。だがそうした幸福は、国夫と女中せいとの関係を知ったその日から、妙子から去ってしまった。狭山家の“働き手”ではあるが、妙子は、夫や姑の意に反してもせいを出そうと決心した。しかし既にせいが妊娠していたことを知ると絶望のあまり妙子は家出してしまった。
