''When the Moon Was Full'' is based on the true story about the Rigi family. Abdulhamid Rigi marries Faezeh Mansuri, who lived in Tehran. The couple leaves Tehran for Pakistan along with her brother Shahab. Faezeh's family discovers that their daughter has been taken captive by Jundallah in Pakistan. Shahab is beheaded by Jundallah because the group believes he was an Iranian agent. Abdolmalek Rigi, Abdulhamid's older brother, calls the father of Faezeh and Shahab Mansuri and tells him to watch the video of his son's beheading on Al-Arabiya the following night. Though Faezeh had a chance to escape from Pakistan, she chooses to remain there and not leave her three children. Finally, Abdulhamid murders her in her sleep on the orders of Abdolmalek Rigi.
