As his parents left a long time ago, the boy must then live with his uncle, who is a tailor. Their house in a peaceful village in the Southern Vietnam region is simple yet cozy. However, the innocent boy cannot ignore the heartless gossips about his uncle's life from practically everyone else. At the same time, considering his nephew a kid, the uncle cannot give him a reasonable explanation or excuse for his questions either. The boy blames himself and decides to find a solution that he believes will bring his uncle a better life. Yet his decision only leads them to an even more tragic ending.

Chu Ba Lua es un joven sastre que cuida de su sobrino, abandonado por sus padres. Viven en una aldea vietnamita y todos los vecinos cotillean sobre el sastre y le reprochan su orientación sexual, aunque reconocen su habilidad para coser. El niño sufre con estos insultos y cree que su tío no se casa por ser su tutor.
