Cuenta la historia de Ken Kaneki, un estudiante universitario, quien después de ser atacado por un ghoul (seres sobrenaturales que sobreviven comiendo carne humana y se esconden en secreto entre los humanos) logra salvarse mediante un trasplante que lo convertirá en mitad-ghoul.
