After suffering a stroke, Bert is left feeble and angry. Ruth tries to make the best of a bad situation and tends to be blinded to the truth. Even as Bert's condition worsens she is still looking trough rose colored glasses and insisting everything is fine. Their daughter Jenny means well but even she tries to push Ruth towards getting Bert into a home and getting better care. Ruth goes to incredible lengths as she tries to keep love alive but life must keep going.
