Un acteur a été assassiné à Montmartre durant le tournage d'une comédie farfelue. Le commissaire Bernard est aussitôt chargé de l'enquête mais ses investigations piétinent jusqu'au jour où l'on découvre que le crime a été filmé. De beeltenis van een moordenaar is in het bezit van de politie en leidt tot de arrestatie van twee mannen die daar sprekend op lijken. De getuige weet de dader niet te identificeren. Publicatie van de foto brengt de opdrachtgevers van de moord in paniek zodat ze de echte dader zelf liquideren.
