Bob Barton and his partner, Malden, make a good living renting plots to prospectors. While his niece Alice ends up taking over her house, Malden gets drunk and almost gets mugged by Ace Brady, the leader of a gang of bad guys. But Malden is killed soon after by one of Brady's men, Fox Tyson, who arranges for Bob to be charged in Malden's place. Bob escapes from the sheriff and must prove his innocence.
