Tadeo Jones viaja hasta Las Vegas para asistir a la presentación del último descubrimiento de la arqueóloga Sara Lavroff: el papiro que demuestra la existencia del Collar de Midas, el mítico Rey que convertía en oro todo aquello que tocaba. Pero el feliz reencuentro se verá enturbiado cuando un malvado ricachón secuestra a Sara para poder encontrar el talismán y conseguir riquezas infinitas.
