Lydia Kenyon (Claudette Colbert) feels she is neglected and treated insensitively by her husband, Tony (Ray Milland), on their fifth wedding anniversary. He is very committed to his job, and not only does it take up his time, but it requires a lot of less than desirable socializing with his clients. At one of their parties, a friend and housemate of his clients's, the lawyer Jim Blake (Brian Aherne), takes a frustrated Lydia off on a moonlight drive. She and Jim enjoy a pleasant but innocent outing, but shake things up at home.
