Die Innenarchitektin Kim Joosten ist wie viele moderne Frauen: selbstbewusst, erfolgreich und stets auf ihr Äußeres bedacht. Als sie auf einem Grillfest einem Kind das Leben rettet, erleidet sie schwere Verbrennungen und ist fortan durch eine großflächige Gesichtsnarbe entstellt. Repräsentation und gutes Aussehen sind jedoch Pflicht in ihrem Job, in dem sie nun zusehends an den Rand gedrängt wird. Als sie auch noch entdeckt, dass ihr Mann Max eine Affäre hat, weiß Kim nicht mehr weiter.
