In Roma Morte, Savella travels to Italy. There, he discovers Rome, its landscapes and monuments. He remembers, among the ruins, where he came from and what motivated him to leave and return. Roma Morte is the last of the short films in the documentary project ANCE (Nationalist Asylum of Educational Cinefever), a completely unofficial production line inspired by the INCE (National Institute of Educational Cinema), which became a landmark in Brazilian experimental film: an official government institute created in 1936 to make films as a vehicle of popular education, comprising official news, technical and scientific exposition, as well as biographical and historical records of great Brazilian characters and cities.
