Robin of Loxley is captured during the Crusades and is imprisoned at Khalil Prison in Jerusalem. With the help of fellow inmate Asneeze, who was arrested for jaywalking, he escapes and frees the other inmates. Robin is asked by Asneeze to find his son, Ahchoo. Upon returning to England, he finds Ahchoo and discovers that Prince John has assumed control while King Richard is away fighting in the Crusades. Unbeknownst to Richard, the prince is abusing his power. Robin returns to his family home, Loxley Hall, only to find it being repossessed by John's men. His family's blind servant, Blinkin, informs Robin that his family members and pets have all died as well, and the only thing his father left him is a key which opens "the greatest treasure in all the land."
Após lutar nas cruzadas, Robin de Locksley (Cary Elwes) é aprisionado e vai para a Prisão de Khalil em Jerusalém, mas escapa graças a ajuda de outro prisioneiro, Asneeze (Isaac Hayes), que lhe pede que cuide do seu filho, Ahchoo (David Chappelle), que está na Inglaterra. Robin promete e nada até seu país. Lá ele rapidamente encontra Ahchoo, que estava sendo agredido por guardas, o salva e descobre que sua família morreu e seus bens foram confiscados. Além disto fica sabendo que o Rei Ricardo (Patrick Stewart) não voltou das Cruzadas e que o país está sendo governado pelo despótico Rei João (Richard Lewis), com a ajuda do arbitrário Xerife de Rottingham (Roger Rees). Ele então se torna Robin Hood e reúne patriotas para lutar contra o rei e o xerife. Robin logo consegue uma aliada no palácio real quando se apaixona por Lady Marian (Amy Yasbeck), que se mantêm virgem graças à dedicação de Broomhilde (Megan Cavanagh), sua aia, e de um cinto de castidade que só pode ser aberto se eles se casarem. Mas antes de tudo Robin precisa derrotar seus inimigos.
