Ein General lässt 1917 in Mexiko alle Kirchen niederbrennen, wie auch alle Geistlichen töten. Der junge Miguel Pro muss in die Vereinigten Staaten fliehen, da er kurz vorher seine Ausbildung zum Priester erfolgreich beendet hat. Nach einiger Zeit kehrt er wieder zurück, allerdings muss er feststellen, dass seine Mutter kurz vorher gestorben ist und seine Geschwister von der Geheimpolizei bedroht werden. Daraufhin schmiedet er einen Racheplan...
