Robyn, a devoted high school English teacher, is fired for teaching banned Black literature. Reeling from the injustice and with her young daughter by her side, she turns to Mrs. Jean, a community elder and keeper of a cherished community bookstore. Through the bond of intergenerational friendship, the stories held within the bookstore's archives, and a shared vision for a better future, Robyn discovers new truths about her purpose—and the courage to fight for it.
