Filmul spune povestea lui Matilda, o bătrână care trebuie să lupte împotriva unui magnat imobiliar pentru a-și salva casa. Tănase este un om de afaceri nemilos care și-a construit averea pe escrocherea oamenilor și evacuarea lor din casele lor. Când vrea să o dea afară pe Matilda din casa ei, norocul său se încheie pe măsură ce bătrâna aparent drăguță reușește să-și apere proprietatea.
