In 1983, when Logan Fallon was ten years old, he witnessed the murders of his parents, younger sister and five police officers by Mafia thugs. Logan was raised by his Uncle Jake, a New Mexico rancher and former Army Ranger. Under the guidance of Jake and Jake's father-in-law Ben, Logan grew from a boy into a man. He also discovered that he had been blessed with "proximity sense", the ability to perceive danger before it happens. With Jake at his side, Logan hones this gift and turns himself into a lethal fighting machine with the survival and martial arts skills to take on the toughest in the world. He joins the U.S. Army (in approximately 1991 based on the 2 service stripes seen on his uniform sleeve in 1998), and becomes a Ranger like his uncle. As a Staff Sergeant, he singlehandedly rescues a downed U.S. Air Force Captain in Guatemala. His actions earn him the Distinguished Service Cross, an award his uncle also once received. He returns to his uncle's ranch and shares his plans to leave the Army with Jake. Now in the perfect position to avenge the murder of his family, he must choose whether to play by the rules of the law or to live by his own. He returns to Chicago and visits his family's graves and remembers that fateful night when his loved ones were murdered. He pays a visit to his father's executor and learns that over the past 15 years, his father's friend has invested wisely and he is now a very wealthy man. Using the name Jimmy Testa, Logan infiltrates the gang responsible for his family's death and begins working for Sal Mercado in order to work his way up to the head of the Mafia family. Meanwhile, the FBI agent that worked the Fallon murder case, John Downing, reviews the old files after Logan mysteriously calls him.
