本片讲述长年寄情工作的东南亚某国华人警探张荼（任贤齐 饰），因儿子小介遭人贩拐卖，展开千里寻子之路。过程中遇上孩提时期被拐卖的华裔女子钦貌苏（陈瑶 饰）。一对同是天涯沦落人，在猜忌中完成各自人生目标中，经历互相利用、出卖和扶持，最终成就阿荼，将整个国际人贩集团连根拔起，与失散多年的儿子重逢。
