It was one of the great crimes of the Second World War: from 1941 to 1944, the siege, the starvation of Leningrad on Hitler's orders, lasted 872 days and over a million people fell victim to it. Starving people wrote diaries, cameramen filmed in the frozen city. The blockade ended 80 years ago, on January 27, 1944.
