On the death of his mother, Martin, twelve, left France alone to find his father, whom he did not know, in Africa. The latter, responsible for a reserve, received him in an austere manner. He seems more concerned about the unexplained absence of the elephants, than about the arrival of his son. With Fofana and Victor, his new friends, Martin discovers African life and embarks on a great adventure which will lead him to reconciliation with his father.
