Jazmín, una joven que vive en la Ciudad de México, está desconcertada cuando recibe una llamada informándole que su padre Toussaint, un inmigrante haitiano ilegal, está enfermo. Hace años que no lo ve y no sabe por qué la llaman. Cuando finalmente llega al hospital y descubre que su padre sufre demencia vascular, se enfrenta a la tarea de cuidar a un hombre que para ella es más un extraño que un padre.
