大富豪で宝石商の岩瀬庄兵衛（大河内浩）のもとに、一人娘・岩瀬早苗（白本彩奈）の誘拐と、大宝玉「エジプトの星」強奪をほのめかす予告状が届き、名探偵・明智小五郎（船越英一郎）に警護を依頼する。 明智は部下である小林芳雄（樋口幸平）と木内文代（唯月ふうか）と、警視庁捜査一課の浪越警部（池田鉄洋）と共に警備にあたるが、混乱のなか早苗が誘拐されてしまう。 明智は、宝飾店の常連客でもある緑川夫人（黒木瞳）が犯人であると確信し追い詰めていくが、お互い心の内を探るうちに惹かれあっていく...。
