森下昴は付き合って3年が経つ恋人・美紀との結婚を間近に控えていたが、ある日、彼女は交通事故で亡くなってしまう 。言葉にならない苦悩と悲しみで茫然自失の日々を過ごす中、母・洋子に促され、久々に故郷の岐阜へと帰省する。洋子もまた、不慮の事故で夫を亡くし、未だに心に傷を抱えていた。悲しみは癒えないと思っていたが、ある不思議な体験を通して、昴は美紀の死と向き合っていくように――。
