With her father presumed dead during the dark years of the German occupation in Athens, the poor but honest young toiler, Fani, struggles to make ends meet working as a secretary for the wealthy businessman, Petras. Her ailing mother, Despo, who suffers from cardiovascular disease, has a high risk of a heart attack--and to make matters worse--a treasonous theft at the office threatens to put Fani behind bars.
