A cop looking for a chance to redeem himself comes up against a man who has built a fortune out of corruption.

Der vom Dienst suspendierte Polizist Jack Newland findet nach vielen abgelehnten Bewerbungen endlich wieder einen Job in Las Vegas. Zusammen mit dem Detective Hilts führt sie ihr erster gemeinsamer Fall in die Villa des vermißten Buchhalters Arden Cook. Jack findet im Haus Blutspuren und vermutet folgerichtig, daß sie es mit einem Mord zu tun haben. Die von Seiten Hilts nur halbherzig betriebenen Ermittlungen führen sie darauf hin zu zwei mächtigen Geschäftsleuten. Der Fall zieht immer größere Kreise und mehr und mehr muß Jack Newland erkennen, daß Las Vegas im Sumpf von Glücksspiel und Korruption versinkt...
