Un tânăr compozitor, Tase Caraman, proaspăt logodit, ajunge în iadul reeducării de la închisoarea Piteşti. Teribilul experiment este condus de temutul comandant Ciumău. Prin credinţă, supravieţuieste torturilor şi după eliberare compune o Odă lui Dumnezeu. Muzica o va salva pe logodnica lui, Lia.
