Infatuated with Nora McCree, his tenant, Peter Kennedy tries in every possible way to conquer the woman without success. Kennedy concludes that the only way to get it is to eliminate Patrick, her husband: for him, she organizes a wrestling match during which McCree's opponent, knocked out, is left for dead. At Kennedy's suggestion, Patrick flees, embarking for South Africa, where he will enlist to fight against the Boers. During his absence, Nora, left alone, remains faithful to him anyway. Kennedy, who does not want to give up on her, does everything in her power to make her feel the weight of poverty, so that the woman gives in. Things seem to get worse when little Eileen, the daughter of Nora and Patrick, dreams of her father who, the following day, she finds on the ground, unconscious, lying under a large tree after being attacked by Kennedy on his return home. But, with Patrick's return, Kennedy's plans go up in smoke and the McCree family is happily reunited again.
