Irène, avocate renommée, coule des jours heureux auprès de son mari et ses enfants. Mais un jour, elle découvre l'infidélité de son époux et ce dernier décide alors de la quitter sur le champ. Comble de la situation, sa mère, hospitalisée pour une grave opération, laisse à la jeune femme une lettre contenant une révélation bouleversante. Irène réussira-t-elle à s'en relever ?
