In 2000, a professor (Sewell) from Toronto goes to Princeton, New Jersey for a conference but doesn't return. Devastating his wife (Anderson) and young son Erol (Ruttan), he is eventually presumed dead. Twelve years later, Erol (Osment) talks with his grandfather (Garber), who suggests that the father's disappearance may have been the result of a scientific experiment involving time travel. Erol is determined to find out the truth.
