Karin Hartung feels that her marriage to the chemist Dr. Herbert Hartung is no longer well, because her married life has resulted in an unbearable routine for her, in which she as a woman hardly feels noticed by her husband. Because everything she does is taken for granted and she no longer receives any attention, she decides to put an end to her marriage and return to her parents' home. She takes a job as a secretary in her father's company, while Herbert is now alone in front of the daily household chores, which he does sometimes well and sometimes less well within the scope of his possibilities in a funny way.
