Ehe die Heimatglocken erklingen, wird scharf geschossen: ein Toter liegt im Wald. Wilderer waren am Werk. Ein Unschuldiger gerät in Verdacht, flieht jedoch nur, um wiederzukommen. Er kämpft um seine Unschuld. Wie er sie beweist, ist erstaunlich, denn es handelt sich bei ihm nicht nur um einen gestandenen Gebirgler, sondern auch um einen virtuosen Fotografen, der von seiner opferbereiten Braut bei der anschliessenden Verbrecherjagd moralisch unterstützt wird.
