"대재앙" 이라고 불리는 세계 규모의 혼돈에서 되살아 난 세계. 과거에 일어난 의 반동으로 세계는 극단적인 건강지향과 사회의 조화를 중요시하고 초고도 의료 사회로 변화한다. 그런 다정함과 자애로 가득 찬 가짜 세계에 맞서는 방법을 매일 생각하고 있는 소녀가 있다. 소녀의 이름은 미히에 미아. 세계를 향한 저항을 표하기 위해 그녀는 자신의 카리스마에 끌린 두 명의 소녀와 함께 어느 날 자살을 한다. 13년 후, 키리에 투안은 너무 상냥한 일본 사회가 싫어 전장의 평화 유지 활동을 최전선에서 펼치고 있었다. 키리에 투안은 과거 자살 사건에서 살아 남은 소녀. 평화에 너무 익숙해진 세계를 향해 어떤 범행 그룹이 수 천명 규모의 목숨을 뺏는 사건을 일으킨다. 범행 그룹으로부터 세계를 향해 보내진 “선언”에 따라 세계는 다시 공포에 떨어지게 된다. 키리에 투안은 그 선언에서 죽은 것인 분명한 미아의 숨결을 느낀다. 투안은 과거 같이 죽으려고 했던 미아의 존재를 확인하기 위해 일어선다.

In a future period called the "Maelstrom", nuclear war and disease have plagued and destroyed the world, including the United States. To prevent new horrors, the world was divided into several smaller states. Each state is defined as an ethical, solidarity and futuristic society which is controlled by "admedistration", facilities where nanotechnology is used for medical purposes, to allow better living. But in Japan, the young Tuan Kirie and her friends Miach Mihie and Cian Reikado start a protest against this kind of company and control over their lives, refusing food and medication and get up to suicide but Tuan and Cian fail to protest.

Dal romanzo di Project Itoh. In un periodo futuro chiamato "Maelstrom", la guerra nucleare e le malattie hanno distrutto il mondo. Per prevenire nuovi orrori, la Terra è stata divisa in diversi Stati minori. In Giappone la giovane Tuan Kirie e le sue amiche Miach Mihie e Cian Reikado protestano contro questa società e cercano la vera autonomia personale dal sistema.

Dans un futur, l’utopie a finalement été atteinte grâce à la nanotechnologie médicale et une éthique forte de la protection sociale et la considération mutuelle. Cependant, ce monde parfait ne l’est pas, et 3 jeunes filles se dressent contre ce totalitarisme bienveillant par une tentative de suicide en se laissant mourir de faim. Mais cela ne fonctionne pas. Quelques années plus tard, l’une des filles, Tuan Kirie, devient membre de l’Organisation mondiale de la Santé. Un jour, une crise menace l’harmonie du nouveau monde, Tuan et une autre fille de son pacte de suicide, vont essayer de sauver la planète…
