Gogol. The Beginning

Казаки, ведьмы, русалки, утопленницы и другие обитатели Диканьки встречаются лицом к лицу со своим создателем Николаем Гоголем, молодым писарем из Петербурга, который страдает загадочными припадками и может общаться с персонажами из потустороннего мира. Вместе со своим начальником, блестящим столичным следователем Яковом Гуро, начинающий писатель приезжает на Полтавщину расследовать таинственные убийства девушек. Здесь же он встречает свою любовь, которой суждено сыграть роковую роль в его судьбе. Но хватит ли юному литератору духу противостоять невообразимому? Ведь по слухам, которые активно разносят напуганные местные жители, за преступлениями стоит не кто иной, как сам Дьявол в обличии черного всадника.

Nikolay Gogol, a young Third Section clerk, is desperate: his own books seem shallow and mediocre, so he keeps buying entire print runs just to burn them all. He is suffering from violent epileptic seizures and struggles to keep on working. Investigator Yakov Guro accidentally witnesses one such fit and realizes that Gogol's visions contain clues that could help solve actual crimes. Together, Gogol and Guro take on a particularly weird and baffling case that brings them to a small village of Dikanka, where everyone has a huge secret to hide.

Nikolai Gogol ist Schriftsteller, dem der Erfolg bisher ausblieb. Seinen Lebensunterhalt verdient er sich bei der Polizei in Sankt Petersburg mit der Dokumentation von Mordfällen. Seit Kindesalter quälen ihn intensive Anfälle während denen er Visionen hat. Diese Anfälle treten zunehmend an Tatorten auf, wo seine Visionen zur Lösung der Morde verhelfen. Der renommierte Ermittler Yakow Guro wird auf Gogol aufmerksam und bringt ihn zur Aufklärung eines Falles in das Dorf Dikanka.

Nikolay Gogol, un jeune commis de troisième section, est désespéré: ses propres livres semblent superficiels et médiocres, alors il continue d'acheter des tirages entiers juste pour les brûler tous. Il souffre de violentes crises d'épilepsie et a du mal à continuer à travailler. L'enquêteur Yakov Guro est accidentellement témoin d'un tel accès et se rend compte que les visions de Gogol contiennent des indices qui pourraient aider à résoudre des crimes réels. Ensemble, Gogol et Guro affrontent une affaire particulièrement étrange et déroutante qui les amène dans un petit village de Dikanka, où tout le monde a un énorme secret à cacher.
